The Institute of Black Invention & Technology, Inc. (TIBIT) is a 501©3 non-profit organization that brings a traveling exhibit to you. TIBIT is the only traveling museum in the country that solely educates audiences about African American inventors and innovators in the fields of science, technology, engineering, art, and math, displaying only original or reproduced artifacts. Founded by Carroll & Sandra Lamb in 2005, the TIBIT traveling museum has exhibited in five regions of the U.S., colleges/universities, private, charter & public K-12 schools, conferences, museums, libraries, corporations, festivals, living rooms, senior living facilities and cultural events.
The mission of the Institute of Black Invention & Technology, Inc. (TIBIT) is to collect, preserve, exhibit, interpret and promote the ingenuity and creativity of African Americans in science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) to inspire the innovators of tomorrow.
TIBIT strives to inspire young people, particularly African American youth, to change their mindset about who they are, what they can do, and what they can become by not being afraid or intimidated by pursuing STEAM and entrepreneurial possibilities.
TIBIT’s traveling museum programs and resources are designed to help bridge the gap in America’s history by informing and making you aware of the contributions of African American inventors and innovators.
TIBIT’s exhibits instill pride and increase cultural awareness by providing a better understanding of the historic African American experience. With your support and donation, we can continue to bring these experiences to more people around the country.
